APPLICATION NOTES

Planning stainless steel passivation

Review grade, surface preparation, rinsing and inspection before selecting a stainless steel passivating agent.

Identify the stainless steel and process

Provide the stainless-steel grade, component geometry, current surface condition and subsequent service. Cleaning and preparation must be reviewed alongside passivation.

Separate preparation from passivation

Remove contamination using an appropriate preparation process. Confirm with the product documentation whether additional removal of weld scale or heat tint is needed; do not assume passivation replaces every surface-treatment step.

Agree inspection and documentation

Define the customer’s inspection or acceptance requirements and validate the complete process on representative components. Request the current TDS and SDS before establishing operating parameters.

Based on the METOX product catalogue. These selection notes do not replace the current product TDS, SDS or equipment procedures.
