Cold Working Lubricants
High-Lubricity Tube Drawing Lubricant
MTX-LB-101
Product overview
For cold drawing lubrication after steel tube phosphating, forming a combined surface system with the conversion coating. Control coverage and drying; assess internal and external surfaces, reduction, dies and residual film after multi-pass drawing.
Typical applications
- Tube cold drawing Provides a stable processing interface for diameter reduction, wall reduction and sizing of seamless or other approved tubes.
- Multi-pass high-load drawing Combines with phosphate coatings for continuous lubrication in high-reduction or multi-pass tube drawing.
- Post-phosphating lubrication Completes tube degreasing, pickling and phosphating as part of a full cold drawing pretreatment system.
Key benefits
- Tube drawing lubrication Provides a lubricant layer after phosphating for diameter and wall reduction.
- Internal and external coverage Treats bore and outer surfaces to reduce locally inadequate lubrication.
- Drawing surface protection Maintains a lubricating layer between the phosphated tube and forming tools during drawing.
Application guidelines
- Check phosphate film and rinse quality. Confirm drawing process and internal and external lubrication requirements.
- Prepare the working solution as specified in the TDS. Use the prescribed method for uniform bore and outer- wall contact.
- Dry as prescribed before drawing. Check scratches, residual film and die condition; maintain the working solution.
Use the current product TDS for operating parameters and the SDS for handling, storage and transport. Confirm compatibility under your process conditions.
